survey on the partisan make up cable news network viewership
The latest Pew Research survey on the partisan make up cable news network viewership:
CNN: 51% Democrats, 18% Republicans, 23% independents
MSNBC: 45% Democrats, 18% Republicans, 27% independents
Fox News: 33% Democrats, 39% Republicans, 22% independents
August 15, 2008
This represents a fair and balanced audience of viewers who are engaged, who vote, and who Democrats need if they’re going to win elections. To those who argue that Democrats should avoid FOX News, look at who you’re also avoiding: a combination of Democrats and independents equaling 45% of the most-watched cable news channel.

From the Frontlines to the Headlines:Vets for Freedom went ‘Back to Iraq’
April 8 2008 - Over 400 veterans from the Iraq and Afghan fronts surged through the halls of congress sharing the ground truths of their 'boots on the ground' experience with their Representatives and Senators. Vets for Freedom members from 48 states took part in almost 400 meetings with Senators and Representatives, and were present and mentioned during Ambassador Crocker and General Petraeus’ testimony before the Senate.
At a press conference before the event, Senators McCain, Lieberman, Graham, Cornyn, Bond, Coburn, Inhofe, Isakson, Roberts, Sessions and House Members Burgess, Marshall, Johnson, King, McCotter, Poe, Reichert, Wamp, Whittman, Diaz-Balart, Wilson, Schmidt, Blackburn, Murphy, Bachman, Carter, and Gingrey addressed our members and provided strong statements in support of our cause. The message was clear - commitment to completion of the mission and the counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our new television advertisement features powerful testimony from three veterans of the Surge in Iraq. We now have a strategy for success in Iraq. General Petraeus' new counter-insurgency strategy is working to create a safer Iraq and a safer America.
The Surge worked, but you wouldn't know it from Senator Obama's comments. We have documented his unwillingness to acknowledge America's successful strategy here.
We invite you to read Senator Obama's thoughts on our current winning strategy and then call his office at (202) 224-2854 and ask him to support Senate Resolution 636, a bi-partisan resolution in the United State Senate sponsored by Senators Lieberman and Graham. http://www.vetsforfreedom.org/

‘Just Words’ That Joe Biden Would Like To Forget
''I made some mistakes,'' said Mr. Biden, who has faced 10 days of news reports on his lifting of sections from the speeches of others and on his record in college and law school. (1987 statement when the senator dropped out of the race)
Interview with Couric in 2007
Couric: When was the last time you lost your temper? And what came of it?
Biden: It's been a while. I lost my temper 22 years ago when I was running for president, and a lot came of it. But I'm trying to think. I haven't lost my temper in a while. I've been frustrated, but I've not blown up and lost my temper. I used to have a I joke and say, two craniotomies I had for these aneurysms. They took the top of my head off. I joke and I say, well, they cut the temper cord. There's a lot more equanimity in my last 20 years and after what I've gone through than there was before. No one thing is that critical that it determines outcome. Unless it's life or death.
Couric: Come on though Senator.
Biden: I'm serious.
Couric: I mean, I'm sure you got annoyed at somebody…
Biden: Oh, no, no, annoyed. No, no, no, no, no.
Couric: I don't mean, got red in the face and slapped somebody.
Biden: Well, I used to lose my temper and turn around and snap at somebody and say, “You know, you know, shut up.” Or do whatever. I haven't, I haven't lost my temper in a long while. I've been frustrated with some of the…staff who tell me things they know they don't know. I get frustrated, occasionally with some of the things I hear being stated by candidates from both parties running for office. I think, I know, you know, my frustration is, you know that's not true. What are ya sayin' it? (CHUCKLES) But I ... really haven't, Katie. I mean, you know, you could, as they say, ask around. I mean, I haven’t lost my temper in a long while.
Couric: I take your word for it, Senator Biden.
Joe Biden on McCain
Biden on Obama
Assessing Obama’s Iraq plan on September 13, 2007: “My impression is [Obama] thinks that if we leave, somehow the Iraqis are going to have an epiphany” of peaceful coexistence among warring sects. “I’ve seen zero evidence of that.”
Speaking to the New York Observer: Biden was equally skeptical — albeit in a slightly more backhanded way — about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
Also from that Observer interview: “But — and the ‘but’ was clearly inevitable — he doubts whether American voters are going to elect ‘a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate,’ and added: ‘I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.’”
Also that night, Biden said in a campaign ad, “When this campaign is over, political slogans like ‘experience’ and ‘change’ will mean absolutely nothing. The next president has to act.”
Biden On McCain:
Biden, on a post-debate appearance on MSNBC, October 30, 2007: “The only guy on the other side who’s qualified is John McCain.”
Biden appearing on The Daily Show, August 2, 2005: “John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend, and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off, be well off no matter who...”
On Meet the Press, November 27, 2005: “I’ve been calling for more troops for over two years, along with John McCain and others subsequent to my saying that.”
If we didn't have Indians, we'd have a doughnut crisis.
His state was a slave state, therefore he is popular with blacks and is not a Northeastern.
What ?
Biden saye obama not ready to lead, the light side and the hard side of Biden
No Goverment single payer programs
Its seem to me Joe biden has played it safe, by walking the fence waiting for a call from Obama or McCain for VP, am not sure this would have been the best pick for Obama. Joe Biden is a loose cannon and you never know what he my say from time to time in the heat of a moment. I think Obama is looking for an attack dog to do his dirty work, this was a not a good pick for Obama he will be spending more time doing clean up on Joe Biden then running his campaign.

Obama I've been in 57 states
"It is wonderful to be back in Oregon," Obama said. "Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."
He was tired!!!! it was just a misstep !!!!!
But john McCain makes a mistake about how many houses he has and the left and Obama go wild with how McCain is not in touch. John McCain to his credit made no mention of Obama misstep if that’s what you want to call it.

Commentary: The poverty of Democrats' ideas for cities
What hate-mongering politician would be so politically incorrect as to suggest that things like higher minimum wages and more government handouts don't actually help the poor? I'll identify the culprit at the end of this column, but for now, I'm more interested in figuring out why that statement sounds so controversial.
Poverty is one of the few national issues that, at least on the surface, unites us all. It's not a political condition; it's a human one. After all, when's the last time you've heard a politician campaign on a pro-poverty platform?
But although the problem may unite us, the solutions don't. And perhaps nothing illustrates that better than what's been happening in Detroit, Michigan, and Buffalo, New York.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly a third of the residents in those cities are living beneath the poverty line, the highest rates among large cities in the entire country.
No matter what side of the political aisle you're on, that is nothing short of appalling. Yet if you ask people what we should do about it, you'll probably hear answers that inexplicably break down right along party lines.
Is there a perfect answer? Probably not. But what bothers me is that people stubbornly stick to their solution, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that it's not working.
For example, Detroit, whose mayor has been indicted on felony charges, hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961. Buffalo has been even more stubborn. It started putting a Democrat in office back in 1954, and it hasn't stopped since.
Don't Miss
Unfortunately, those two cities may be alone at the top of the poverty rate list, but they're not alone in their love for Democrats. Cincinnati, Ohio (third on the poverty rate list), hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1984. Cleveland, Ohio (fourth on the list), has been led by a Democrat since 1989. St. Louis, Missouri (sixth), hasn't had a Republican since 1949, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (eighth), since 1908, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (ninth), since 1952 and Newark, New Jersey (10th), since 1907.
The only two cities in the top 10 that I didn't mention (Miami, Florida, and El Paso, Texas) haven't had Republicans in office either -- just Democrats, independents or nonpartisans.
Over the past 50 years, the eight cities listed above have had Republican leadership for a combined 36 years. The rest of the time -- a combined 364 years -- they've been led by Democrats.
Five of the 10 cities with the highest poverty rates (Detroit, Buffalo, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Newark) have had a Democratic stranglehold since at least 1961: more than 45 years. Two of the cities (Milwaukee and Newark) have been electing Democrats since the first Model T rolled off the assembly line in 1908.
Two cities, 100 years, all Democrats.
If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, the asylums in those cities must be as full as the soup kitchens.
Not too long ago, I had the great honor of being invited to a charity dinner hosted by Chris Gardner. He's the guy whose rags-to-riches life was portrayed by Will Smith in the movie "Pursuit of Happyness." Chris had been on my show a few times, and I've always admired his story and his message of hope through personal responsibility.
As I prepared for the dinner and looked into Chris' charity, I started to get nervous. The roster was filled with liberals, most of whom would probably hate me. Hillary Clinton, Mario Cuomo, Alan Alda, Kenneth Cole and Charles Grodin were just a few of the people I was worried about running into.
But the question I kept asking myself was, why? Why can't people from wildly different political stripes come together in support of a common cause without feeling alienated? Why is an issue like poverty "owned" by one political party?
I consider myself a conservative, but I consider myself an American and a human being first. When people whom I normally agree with screw things up, I call them on it. Yet the people in these cities apparently don't. Newark keeps drinking the Kool-Aid, electing the same people with the same ideas, slipping down the poverty list (along with the "Places Never to Visit Unless it's the Airport" list) and wondering why.
We've talked a lot about "change" in this country recently, but there's a much more important catchphrase that we've neglected: "All politics is local." Maybe instead of focusing so much on who we put in charge of our country, we should focus more on who we put in charge of our cities.
Oh, and before I forget. The hateful politician who suggested that we should be "driving" or "leading" the poor out of poverty? It was Benjamin Franklin.
Good thing he never tried to run for mayor of Newark.Glenn Beck/CNN
Californians are facing 9.25 sales tax rate in some counties due to their incompetence in running local cities and California government. Who is in control of California the democrats they control local government and the California legislator these folks have been on a spending spree over the last 5 years and now they want us the tax payer to pay there entitlement programs they have put in place for the past 5 years. The thing to do is to roll back our spending to what it was 5 yrs ago and cancel all those programs but the democrats won't do that. So now we want to put a democrat in the Whitehouse with the same mind set as those all over the country running our local governments and cities. It make no since to me, all I hear about is how bad the war was in Iraq. And yes the war was not handled right in the beginning, but what about the democrats using the war as a smoke screen against there own failed policy on running our local cities and state legislators.

1988 TV Presidential Ad Guess who ?
The first part of the ad states "The White House isn't the place to learn" this was a reference made to Jessie Jackson who was running for President. The 2nd part is no differrent then what obama says about our country today 20 years later. Wow what a sad statement.

There was also another Bill from 2002:
Soon after Bush and Cheney took over the Whitehouse 2002, they published an "Energy Plan" The bill is huge and far-reaching, but can largely be summed up as “more nukes, coal, oil, gas, hydro dams and incineration, more Enrons, lower fuel efficiency for cars and trucks, more mining and drilling, more pipelines and power lines.
To implement the plan, legislation needed to be passed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. In the 2001-2002 session of Congress, the House and Senate were controlled by different parties, with the Democrats having a narrow majority in the Senate. Both houses passed their own version of an energy bill. The Senate version (controlled by the Democrats) was far worse, particularly in the area of promoting nuclear power and Enron-style deregulation. Due to the excessive attention to Arctic drilling, the most significant good thing about the Senate bill is that it did NOT contain the Arctic drilling provision.
The Senate, led by Republican Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, tried to cut off the filibuster on November 21st, but fell 2 votes short of the 60 votes they needed. Hoping to try again in a few days, Frist procedurally changed his vote last minute, so the vote turned out to be 57 to 40, with 3 Democrats not bothering to vote (including presidential candidates Kerry and Edwards).
Thirteen Democrats switched sides and supported the Republican majority in seeking to cut off the filibuster. Most of these were from mid-western farm states, where the ethanol lobby has pushed hard and has even won the support of Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. Both Senators from Louisiana (both Democrats) also supported the bill, most likely due to their long-standing support of their state’s oil and gas industries.
Six Republicans crossed party lines to support the filibuster, providing the crucial margin that stopped the bill so far. Senator McCain from Arizona was joined by all five Republican Senators from New England. They responded to the Democrats’ main rallying cry against the bill, which was focused on the retroactive product liability waiver for the gas additive methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). MTBE has leaked from underground storage tanks at gas stations around the nation and has contaminated groundwater in many communities. The two Republican Senators from Texas have strongly supported this legal protection for their friends in the oil industry, who make MTBE in their state.
I see Obama at every turn trying to link McCain to Bush, and the Facts are the Facts when it comes to Votes. This is why Senator McCain is not liked or trusted by most Republicans Because of many of his stances against the administration. Whether you like McCain or not he does not walk in step with the Republicans he has crossed over many times over to join the Democrats against Republicans.
This is Obama's election to win or lose if he continues to put out false information and continues to change his stance like he has on so many things he will lose the election. He will have no one to blame but himself.

Obama just a few days ago accused McCain on voting with President Bush On Passage of the Bill (H.R. 6 As Amended well that's not a true statement Mr. Obama. The correct statement was that McCain Voted against and yes Obama Voted Yes for the bill.

Taking a Look at the candidates Energy plans from there websites, McCain VS Obama
When I listen to Obama or McCain in there speeches Obama's plan sounds pretty good but there isn't a whole lot of substance of exactly how he would accomplish his goals. So in order to get the facts we must go to there website, and this is what I found out.
First Obama's Plan http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/newenergy_more#relief
Provide Short-term Relief to American Families
· Enact a Windfall Profits Tax to Provide a $1,000 Emergency Energy Rebate to American Families. Obama will enact a windfall profits tax on excessive oil company profits to give American families an immediate $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families pay rising bills. This relief would be a down payment on Obama’s long-term plan to provide middle-class families with at least $1,000 per year in permanent tax relief. ( This sounds good but how do we stop the Oil companies from passing that tax on to American Families we all know that would happen, so my be this isn't such a good Idea. )
· Crack Down on Excessive Energy Speculation.
Barack Obama will close energy industry market loopholes and increase transparency to prevent traders from unfairly lining their pockets, while driving up oil prices at the expense of the American people. ( It appears this Bill is already in the works by Senators Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Dorgan, and Murray introduced S. 3268, the Stop Excessive Energy Speculation Act of 2008. On July 15, 2008 ) http://dpc.senate.gov/dpc-new.cfm?doc_name=lb-110-2-117
· Swap Oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Cut Prices.
With oil prices doubling in the past year, Barack Obama believes we have an economic emergency that requires a limited, responsible swap of light oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for heavy crude oil to help bring down prices at the pump. (President Jimmy Carter in 1980, Mr. Carter's tax was levied per-barrel, so it directly increased the marginal cost of producing crude -- and made figuring out which barrels to tax ridiculously complicated. President Bill Clinton did such a swap in September 2000 -- yes, just before another presidential election this lowered the price by a couple of cents. President Bush released oil in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. Both moves led to drops in the spot price of crude but not the sort of relief at the pump. Am not sure this is the answer.)
Eliminate Our Need for Middle Eastern and Venezuelan Oil within 10 Years
· Increase Fuel Economy Standards. Obama will increase fuel economy standards 4 percent per year while providing $4 billion for domestic automakers to retool their manufacturing facilities in America to produce these vehicles. (How much will this cost ?)
· Get 1 Million Plug-In Hybrid Cars on the Road by 2015.
These vehicles can get up to 150 miles per gallon. Barack Obama believes we should work to ensure these cars are built here in America, instead of factories overseas. ( How do we in 6yrs get this done where is the Plan)
· Create a New $7,000 Tax Credit for Purchasing Advanced Vehicles. ( Who Pays for this)
· Establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
Obama will establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) to reduce the carbon in our fuels 10 percent by 2020. Obama will also require 60 billion gallons of advanced biofuels to be phased into our fuel supply by 2030. (Sounds good where is the Plan, and how much will this cost ?)
· A “Use it or Lose It” Approach to Existing Oil and Gas Leases.
Obama will require oil companies to develop the 68 million acres of land (over 40 million of which are offshore) which they have already leased and are not drilling on. ( Agree )
· Promote the Responsible Domestic Production of Oil and Natural Gas.
An Obama administration will establish a process for early identification of any infrastructure obstacles/shortages or possible federal permitting process delays to drilling in the Bakken Shale formation, the Barnett shale formation, and the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. ( Not sure I understand)
Create Millions of New Green Jobs
· Ensure 10 percent of Our Electricity Comes from Renewable Sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025. ( How is this Done)
· Deploy the Cheapest, Cleanest, Fastest Energy Source -- Energy Efficiency.
Obama will set an aggressive energy efficiency goal -- to reduce electricity demand 15 percent from projected levels by 2020. ( Can we see how we are going to reach this Goal)
· Weatherize One Million Homes Annually.
Obama will make a national commitment to weatherize at least one million low-income homes each year for the next decade, which can reduce energy usage across the economy and help moderate energy prices for all. ( How is this done and what is the cost)
· Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology.
Obama’s Department of Energy will enter into public private partnerships to develop five “first-of-a-kind” commercial scale coal-fired plants with clean carbon capture and sequestration technology. ( (what is the cost)
· Prioritize the Construction of the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline.
As president, Obama will work with the Canadian government, state of Alaska, oil and gas producers, and other stakeholders to facilitate construction of the pipeline. Not only is this pipeline critical to our energy security, it will create thousands of new jobs. ( this has been already in the works please see plans https://uascentral.uas.alaska.edu/onlinelib/Spring-2008/ALST600-JD1/Menge_GasPresentation_May10.pdf )
Reduce our Greenhouse Gas Emissions 80 Percent by 2050
· Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050. (check the plan by Harverd University weather you agree with them or not they have plan of action http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2008/07.24/pdfs/GHG_TF_finalreport.pdf )
Obama's cap-and-trade policy will require all pollution credits to be auctioned, and proceeds will go to investments in a clean energy future and rebates and other transition relief for families. ( How much will this cost )
· Make the U.S. a Leader on Climate Change.
Obama will re-engage with the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) -- the main international forum dedicated to addressing the climate problem. He will also create a Global Energy Forum of the world’s largest emitters to focus exclusively on global energy and environmental issues. ( nice goal )
I have to tell you Obama's website didn't answer my questions it sounded like speech with not much substance on his plan.
John McCain
http://www.johnmccain.com//Informing/Issues/17671aa4-2fe8-4008-859f-0ef1468e96f4.htm
Our nation's future security and prosperity depends on the next President making the hard choices that will break our nation's strategic dependence on foreign sources of energy and will ensure our economic prosperity by meeting tomorrow's demands for a clean portfolio. John McCain has made the necessary choices - producing more power, pushing technology to help free our transportation sector from its use of foreign oil, cleaning up our air and addressing climate change, and ensuring that Americans have dependable energy sources. John McCain will lead the effort to develop advanced transportation technologies and alternative fuels to promote energy independence and cut off the flow of oil wealth to repressive dictatorships like Iran.
"In recent days I have set before the American people an energy plan, the Lexington Project -- named for the town where Americans asserted their independence once before. And let it begin today with this commitment: In a world of hostile and unstable suppliers of oil, this nation will achieve strategic independence by 2025."
John McCain, June 25, 2008Read the entire speech...
Expanding Domestic Oil And Natural Gas Exploration And Production John McCain Will Commit Our Country To Expanding Domestic Oil Exploration. The current federal moratorium on drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf stands in the way of energy exploration and production. John McCain believes it is time for the federal government to lift these restrictions and to put our own reserves to use. There is no easier or more direct way to prove to the world that we will no longer be subject to the whims of others than to expand our production capabilities. We have trillions of dollars worth of oil and gas reserves in the U.S. at a time we are exporting hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas to buy energy. This is the largest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind. We should keep more of our dollars here in the U.S., lessen our foreign dependency, increase our domestic supplies, and reduce our trade deficit - 41% of which is due to oil imports. John McCain proposes to cooperate with the states and the Department of Defense in the decisions to develop these resources. John McCain Believes In Promoting And Expanding The Use Of Our Domestic Supplies Of Natural Gas. When people are hurting, and struggling to afford gasoline, food, and other necessities, common sense requires that we draw upon America's own vast reserves of oil and natural gas. Within the United States we have tremendous reserves of natural gas. The Outer Continental Shelf alone contains 77 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas. It is time that we capitalize on these significant resources and build the infrastructure needed to transport this important component of electricity generation and transportation fuel around the country.
Taking Action Now To Break Our Dependency On Foreign Oil By Reforming Our Transportation Sector The Nation Cannot Reduce Its Dependency On Oil Unless We Change How We Power Our Transportation Sector. John McCain's Clean Car Challenge. John McCain will issue a Clean Car Challenge to the automakers of America, in the form of a single and substantial tax credit for the consumer based on the reduction of carbon emissions. He will commit a $5,000 tax credit for each and every customer who buys a zero carbon emission t car, encouraging automakers to be first on the market with these cars in order to capitalize on the consumer incentives. For other vehicles, a graduated tax credit will apply so that the lower the carbon emissions, the higher the tax credit. (Good plan but How much will this cost Americans ? this seems to be a tax increase ? )
John McCain Will Propose A $300 Million Prize To Improve Battery Technology For Full Commercial Development Of Plug-In Hybrid And Fully Electric Automobiles. A $300 million prize should be awarded for the development of a battery package that has the size, capacity, cost and power to leapfrog the commercially available plug-in hybrids or electric cars. That battery should deliver a power source at 30 percent of the current costs. At $300 million, the prize is one dollar for every man, woman and child in this country - and a small price to pay for breaking our dependence on oil. ( Great Plan but here is another Tax Increase )
John McCain Supports Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFVs) And Believes They Should Play A Greater Role In Our Transportation Sector. In just three years, Brazil went from new cars sales that were about 5 percent FFVs to over 70 percent of new vehicles that were FFVs. American automakers have committed to make 50 percent of their cars FFVs by 2012. John McCain calls on automakers to make a more rapid and complete switch to FFVs. ( Good Idea but Brazil Population is a Quarter of ours in the U.S )
John McCain Believes Alcohol-Based Fuels Hold Great Promise As Both An Alternative To Gasoline And As A Means of Expanding Consumers' Choices. Some choices such as ethanol are on the market right now. The second generation of alcohol-based fuels like cellulosic ethanol, which won't compete with food crops, are showing great potential. Today, Isolationist Tariffs And Wasteful Special Interest Subsidies Are Not Moving Us Toward An Energy Solution. We need to level the playing field and eliminate mandates, subsidies, tariffs and price supports that focus exclusively on corn-based ethanol and prevent the development of market-based solutions which would provide us with better options for our fuel needs. ( Good Idea but will never work)
John McCain Will Effectively Enforce Existing CAFE Standards. John McCain has long supported CAFE standards - the mileage requirements that automobile manufacturers' cars must meet. Some carmakers ignore these standards, pay a small financial penalty, and add it to the price of their cars. John McCain believes that the penalties for not following these standards must be effective enough to compel all carmakers to produce fuel-efficient vehicles. ( Green cars will fix problem)
Investing In Clean, Alternative Sources Of EnergyJohn McCain Believes That The U.S. Must Become A Leader In A New International Green Economy. Green jobs and green technology will be vital to our economic future. There is no reason that the U.S. should not be a leader in developing and deploying these new technologies. (Agree )
John McCain Will Commit $2 Billion Annually To Advancing Clean Coal Technologies. Coal produces the majority of our electricity today. Some believe that marketing viable clean coal technologies could be over 15 years away. John McCain believes that this is too long to wait, and we need to commit significant federal resources to the science, research and development that advance this critical technology. Once commercialized, the U.S. can then export these technologies to countries like China that are committed to using their coal - creating new American jobs and allowing the U.S. to play a greater role in the international green economy. (Agree )
John McCain Will Put His Administration On Track To Construct 45 New Nuclear Power Plants By 2030 With The Ultimate Goal Of Eventually Constructing 100 New Plants. Nuclear power is a proven, zero-emission source of energy, and it is time we recommit to advancing our use of nuclear power. Currently, nuclear power produces 20% of our power, but the U.S. has not started construction on a new nuclear power plant in over 30 years. China, India and Russia have goals of building a combined total of over 100 new plants and we should be able to do the same. It is also critical that the U.S. be able to build the components for these plants and reactors within our country so that we are not dependent on foreign suppliers with long wait times to move forward with our nuclear plans. ( Great plan how much will it cost)
John McCain Will Establish A Permanent Tax Credit Equal To 10 Percent Of Wages Spent On R&D. This reform will simplify the tax code, reward activity in the U.S., and make us more competitive with other countries. A permanent credit will provide an incentive to innovate and remove uncertainty. At a time when our companies need to be more competitive, we need to provide a permanent incentive to innovate, and remove the uncertainty now hanging over businesses as they make R&D investment decisions. ( Nice will never happen)
John McCain Will Encourage The Market For Alternative, Low Carbon Fuels Such As Wind, Hydro And Solar Power. According to the Department of Energy, wind could provide as much as one-fifth of electricity by 2030. The U.S. solar energy industry continued its double-digit annual growth rate in 2006. To develop these and other sources of renewable energy will require that we rationalize the current patchwork of temporary tax credits that provide commercial feasibility. John McCain believes in an even-handed system of tax credits that will remain in place until the market transforms sufficiently to the point where renewable energy no longer merits the taxpayers' dollars. ( Agree)
Protecting Our Environment And Addressing Climate Change: A Sound Energy Strategy Must Include A Solid Environmental Foundation John McCain Proposes A Cap-And-Trade System That Would Set Limits On Greenhouse Gas Emissions While Encouraging The Development Of Low-Cost Compliance Options. A climate cap-and-trade mechanism would set a limit on greenhouse gas emissions and allow entities to buy and sell rights to emit, similar to the successful acid rain trading program of the early 1990s. The key feature of this mechanism is that it allows the market to decide and encourage the lowest-cost compliance options. How Does A Cap-And-Trade System Work? A cap-and-trade system harnesses human ingenuity in the pursuit of alternatives to carbon-based fuels. Market participants are allotted total permits equal to the cap on greenhouse gas emissions. If they can invent, improve, or acquire a way to reduce their emissions, they can sell their extra permits for cash. The profit motive will coordinate the efforts of venture capitalists, corporate planners, entrepreneurs, and environmentalists on the common motive of reducing emissions. Greenhouse Gas Emission Targets And Timetables: 2012: Return Emissions To 2005 Levels
Promoting Energy Efficiency John McCain Will Make Greening The Federal Government A Priority Of His Administration. The federal government is the largest electricity consumer on earth and occupies 3.3 billion square feet of space worldwide. It provides an enormous opportunity to lead by example. By applying a higher efficiency standard to new buildings leased or purchased or retrofitting existing buildings, we can save taxpayers substantial money in energy costs, and move the construction market in the direction of green technology. John McCain Will Move The United States Toward Electricity Grid And Metering Improvements To Save Energy. John McCain will work to reduce red tape to allow a serious investment to upgrade our national grid to meet the demands of the 21st century - which will include a capacity to charge the electric cars that will one day fill the roads and highways of America. And to save both money and electrical power for our people and businesses, we will also need to deploy SmartMeter technologies. These new meters give customers a more precise picture of their overall energy consumption, and over time will encourage a more cost-efficient use of power.
Addressing Speculative Pricing Of Oil John McCain Believes We Must Understand The Role Speculation Is Playing In Our Soaring Energy Prices. Congress already has investigations underway to examine this kind of wagering in our energy markets, unrelated to any kind of productive commerce, because it can distort the market, drive prices beyond rational limits, and put the investments and pensions of millions of Americans at risk. John McCain believes that where we find abuses, they need to be swiftly punished. To make sure it never happens again, we must reform the laws and regulations governing the oil futures market, so that they are just as clear and effective as the rules applied to stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments. ( Need to see Plan on how we are going to hit Goal.)
John McCain Does Not Support A Windfall Profits Tax. A windfall profits tax on the oil companies will ultimately result in increasing our dependence on foreign oil and hinder investment in domestic exploration. Jimmy Carter put a windfall profits tax in to place with little to no useful results. (Agree )
Both candidates have good plans But Obama needs to give us more info then just Sound Bites Change needs to have a better plan. McCain does very well on explaining his plan but gives no costs to the Taxpayer. That is not giving us the Straight talk. McCain's plan is very well thought out but needs too lay out costs, McCain also needs to deliver his plan better in speeches, his message is not getting out as for Obama we need more info on his Plan, his Execution of that plan, and the costs. We all know what happen in the 1960 election between John F. Kenndy and Richard M. Nixon as well as 1980 with Ronald Reagan and Jimmy carter 1992 George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton a smooth talking person that loves the camera will always when over the American People, even if the substance of there plan isn't there.

Mr. change Obama changing his mind on Drilling off the Coast
“My interest is in making sure we've got the kind of comprehensive energy policy that can bring down gas prices," Obama told The Palm Beach Post early into a two-day swing through Florida.
"If, in order to get that passed, we have to compromise in terms of a careful, well thought-out drilling strategy that was carefully circumscribed to avoid significant environmental damage - I don't want to be so rigid that we can't get something done," Obama said.
The senator from Illinois has railed against offshore drilling since John McCain in June proposed striking down the federal moratorium banning offshore oil and gas drilling to help alleviate high gas prices.
“When I’m president, I intend to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida’s coasts,” Obama told reporters in Jacksonville in late June. “That’s how we can protect our coastline and still make the investments that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring down gas prices for good.”
Even as recently as Thursday, Obama refused to cede any ground, calling McCain’s proposal “a strategy designed to get politicians through an election.”
“It's not going to provide short-term relief or medium-term relief or in fact long-term relief. It won't drop prices in this administration or in the next administration or in the administration after that,” Obama said while campaigning in Iowa.
But Friday Obama admitted that something is better than nothing and praised a bipartisan energy plan from the Senate that combines alternative energy innovation, financial, nuclear energy and drilling proposals. He noted he is still skeptical about drilling’s potential to lower gas prices or reduce dependence on foreign oil.
“The Republicans and the oil companies have been really beating the drums on drilling," Obama said in the interview with the Florida paper, "and so we don't want gridlock. We want to get something done.”
The McCain camp was quick to applaud Obama’s softening on the issue.
“It’s clear that members of both parties are following John McCain's leadership toward an ‘all of the above’ approach on energy that includes nuclear, alternative energy, and offshore drilling,” said a McCain spokesman. “We hope Barack Obama will realize that his ongoing opposition to John McCain’s realistic energy solutions and additional offshore drilling is wrong.”
